Yet again mental health is in the news, I feel that this is a good thing because without talking about our mental health and acknowledging that it can affect everyone how can we rid the stigma attached to the therapies and therapists that are out there to try to help.
Its with great sadness that we hear of the death of Dale Winton, he was a very attractive man with a great personality and sense of fun, yet he was dogged with mental health issues. Makes me think of the late Robbie Williams, a great entertainer and very funny man yet his mental health drove him to take his own life.
We also have seen one part of the Ant and Dec duo Anthony McPartlin, is struggling with his mental health, finding escape in alcohol misuse.
I think these examples show us how people can put a great mask to the outside world that all is well yet underneath they are struggling with their mental health.
Consider others these hidden illness’s could be something you are completely unaware of. It is nothing to be ashamed of to admit that you are finding things difficult. The hardest part is that first step in asking for that help.
You are stronger than you give yourself credit for. Talking therapy is not for everyone, but how do you know if you don’t give it a try?
